You wouldn't know it by this picture that I was moving in 2 weeks! Although I've been trying to buy just basics lately-partly because we're moving and partly because the sales have been terrible-I had such a hard time turning down the sales this week! There was a great sale at Copps on Kelloggs Products which allowed me not only to take advantage of the $10 Kelloggs Mail-in-Rebate, but when I matched this offer up with coupons I had from the Sunday newspaper inserts and special Kelloggs coupon booklets I found at the store and Copps/PickNSave "Double Dayz" double coupons I was able to get $41.97 worth of groceries for just $1.20!

We should have no problem eating up our perishable items before we move, and we are planning on just bringing all the extra boxes of cereal and everything else I've managed to stockpile this summer back to Utah with us. One of the things I hate about moving is after several weeks of cleaning, packing, a long drive is to show up to your new place with weeks of unpacking and organizing and no food. In the past I would inevitably end up making a huge (and expensive) shopping trip within the first couple days to fill our cupboards. Although it might not make sense to many other people to move boxes of cereal, pasta, salad dressing, and tons of other non-perishables across the country it is SO much cheaper to do this when I can get all that food at 70-80% off the full price.

Are you curious how I manage to do this? In the weekly posts I give you the readers digest version of my grocery trips, which are mostly meant to inspire you that consistently having enormous savings by using coupons and sticking to a budget can be done! I also do it to hold myself somewhat accountable to our family budget (sometimes it's easy to get carried away with the deals). This week though I am going to do a full breakdown, step-by-step, of how exactly I combined my coupons to sales and hopefully enlighten new couponers to how you can do it too! Look for that post shortly!

A reader gave me a tip of how to turn this deal into a small moneymaker:

Buy all the FAR (free-after-rebate) items together: $22.93

Add in a small filler item to bring your total up to $25: $2.07 (or more)

Use a "$5 off of a purchase of $25" or more coupon (found in the Entertainment Book)

Total is $20 and get back $22.93 for your rebate.

It'll make your filler item free and offset some of the tax of the rebate items! The Entertainment coupon doesn't expire until Dec 31st 2009, so if you can get extras from friends or family with the Entertainment Book you can use them for future rebates.

Thanks Loraleigh!

Kelloggs $24 Coupon Booklet!

Be on the lookout for these kelloggs coupon booklets. I found this one at Walmart at the end of the cereal aisle. It has $24 of coupons that can be used in conjunction with the $10 rebate I mentioned here (the booklet also includes the rebate form inside). The great thing is that all of the coupons are technically for non-Kelloggs products, so you can still use Kelloggs coupons along with these.

For example: there is a coupon in here for $2 off of a 64 oz. Ocean spray Cranberry Juice or Ocean Spray Craisins (6 oz, 10 oz, or 100-calorie sized) when you purchase 2 boxes of frosted Mini-Wheats and/or Raisin Bran.

Today I bought

• 2 boxes of Mini-Wheats on sale at Target this week for $1.88/box and used two $1/1 coupons.

• 6 oz. bag of Craisins for $1.97 and used the $2 off coupon for it (I had a good cashier who let the 3 penny overage slide!).

Altogether the 3 items cost $1.66! Even though I didn't particularly need to cereal I did want Craisins and it ended up being 30 cents cheaper to buy all 3 together with coupons than to buy the Craisins individually!

There are coupons for:

• $2/gallon of milk wyb (when you buy) two packages of Keebler Grahams Crackers and or Grahams sandwich bites

• $2/gallon of milk wyb two packages of Keebler cookies and/or Gripz products

• $2/fresh fruit wyb and two packages of Eggo Frozen Waffles

• $2/store brand coffee wyb two packages of Nutri-Grain bars

• $2/64oz. Ocean Spray Craberry Juice Drink or Ocean Spray craisins (6oz, 10oz, or 100-cal packs) wyb two packages of Mini-Wheats and/or Raisin Bran cereals

• $2/any store brand bread wyb any two Kelloggs Fruit Flavored Snacks and/or Kelloggs Yogos or Yogos Rollers

• $2/gallon of milk wyb and two packages of Keebler and or Sunshine Rite Bites Snacks

• $2/store brand bread wyb any two packages of Kelloggs Rice Krispies treats

• $2/store brand bottled water wyb and one package of Special K cereal AND one package of any Special K protien products

• $2/two-2L or one-12 pack of Sprite or sprite Zero wyb and two packages of Sunshine Cheez-It Baked Snack crackers

• $2/fresh fruit wyb and two packages of Keebler and/or Austin Snadwich crackers

• $2/any two Dannon Danimals Crush Cup 4-pack or Danimals Smoothie packs wyb and two packaees of these Kelloggs Cereals: Cocoa Krispies, Corn Pops, Fruit Loops, Apple Jacks, Frosted Flakes.

Did you Know?

...that CVS gives RAINCHECKS?!

When I found this out I was one part THRILLED and one part sad. Sad that I didn't find this out Monday when I missed out of the free scotch tape (it was a Sunday-Monday only deal), and sad to think about all the other free things I've missed out on all summer not knowing I could have easily gotten a raincheck. Oh yes, I said FREE things. CVS will issues rainchecks for their weekly sale items if they are out of stock, but even for items that generate ECB's (Extra Care Bucks) and even for items that are FREE after ECB's!

Today I went in to get myself a rain check for the free pencils that they had advvertised this week, which were completely out of stock since Monday when I went in.

Next time I go in and they have more pencils in stock I will be able to pick up 3 packs for 99 cents each, and then they will issue me three 99 cent ECB's for those pencils. I am very glad to find this out before next week amazing load of school supplies which are free after ECB's which I'm sure will fly off the shelves fast

Could CVS be any more wonderful? I don't think so.

If you don't live near a CVS, but you do happen to have a Rite-Aid closeby? Well then you might be in luck too because when I used live near and shop at Rite-Aid using their rebate program I often found that the "freebate" (free-after-rebate) items were gone before I could get there and thought I was out of luck until I had a kind cashier let me know that I could pre-pay for my items (so that my receipt would show the valid dates for the rebate) and then come pick it up when they got more in-stock. I did this once and although it took a few weeks it did work. I had pre-paid for 3 items, then submitted my rebate form, and gotten my refund and then the store called when my items came in stock. One of the items, a hair styling product, took so long however that it wasn't ready for me, so instead they let me go to the haircare aisle and pick whatever I wanted (of equal value) for FREE as a substitute! It actually was great because I ended up getting something I wanted more than the original item which I had never seen go on a good sale. How awesome is that!

Softsoap Ensembles Deal Confirmed

Yesterday I happened to be out-of-town near a different (much larger) Target than I usually shop at, so I went in to see if I could find the Softsoap Ensembles that I wrote about earlier here.

I did find the ones that trigger the $5 gift card when you buy two. The were on the end on an aisle with some other "value size" products also included in the GC deal. I got one reusable pump ("starter kit") and one 2-pack of the base refills.

Even though the base was just a single, like the regular ones found on shelves in the hand soap aisle, it had a special bar code sticker over the original packaging which I am guessing was labelled to trigger the giftcard deal at the register (regular single pumps are about $5.89 and do not produce the gift card)
You can see belowthe different bar caode below:

My transaction looked like this:
1 softsoap ensembles pump $6
1 softsoap ensembles base refill (2-pack) $6
-1 $1/1 manufacturers coupon (last months All You magazine)
- 1 $2/1 printable coupon found here
- (2) $1/1 target store coupons, which are available again from Hot Coupon World's Target coupon generator found here
=$5 out of pocket, and I received a $5 Target gift card

Now I'll mail away my UPC's and receipt for the $4 Mail-in rebate, also mentioned previously.

Weekly Shopping Trip

Well this week was a little higher than usual (I try to only spend $50-60 each week for groceries). Part of the reason why is because I found Pampers diapers on clearance at Target, which when I matched up a target coupon and a manufacturers coupon I had made them a really good deal. It was 116 size 5 Pampers Baby Dry, it cost just over $17 which works out to less than 15 cents/diaper (which is a really good price); and although I don't need diapers right now these along with my others should last almost the rest of the way through the summer!

Another good find was the Mug RootBeer & Sierra Mist (both Pepsi products) for $1. I have a rebate for $5 when you buy 4 Pepsi Brand 2-L, so I made $1 buying those 4. You can find these rebate forms at Walgreens stores, and my Walmart had these for $1 this week if you're interested.

We also got a ridiculous amount of cream cheese, and I'm definitely seeing some tasty cheesecake in our near future! I also stocked up on tortillas because I've discovered a serious lack of mexicans out here in Wisconsin and hence a serious lack of mexican food (and the stuff they do have at the store is way more expensive than it was in Utah).

I'm still struggling to find a good and inexpensive source for produce (I miss Sunflower Farmers market!!), so right now I'm paying about twice what I did in Provo...but I try to use that stuff as fillers in my double coupon sales. There is also a local farmers market opening up in a few weeks out here, which I can't wait for!

Anyways, here's my grocery haul:

Before Sales, Coupons & Rebate: Over $245

My total out of pocket: $96 (61% savings)

Target Softsoap Ensembles Money Maker!

Now through July 13th there’s an unadvertised Gift Card deal going on at Target on Softsoap Ensembles and other Colgate Palmolive Products. The details are these:

Buy 2 Irish Spring or Softsoap Value Packs and get a $5 GC. Valid from 05/19-07/13. Each item is priced at $6. It includes the following:
Softsoap Ensembles Base
2 pack of the Ensembles Refill
2 pack Irish Spring Bodywash
2 pack Softsoap Bodywash

With the right coupons your transaction would look like this:

$12 when you buy two Softsoap Ensembles starter Kit (or for to qualify for mail-in rebate offer below buy 1 Starter Kit and 1 Ensembles Refill 2-pack)
-$4 two $2/1 manufacturer coupons: $2/1 printable coupon, $2/1 from CVS Reinventing Beauty Mag (with Jennifer Aniston on the Cover) or $1/1 from June All You (available only at Walmart) Mag
-$4 two $2/1 target coupons: $2/1 printable coupon or $2/1 from 5/31 Sunday inserts.
= Pay as low as $4 plus tax out of pocket and get a $5 Target Gift Card back!

If your store doesn’t have this gift card deal tagged, there’s an easy way to confirm on your own at stores. All you need to do is scan the items on the price scanners located throughout the stores. When you do so, in addition to the price you will see a special notice detailing that this item qualifies for a gift card deal. (Thanks Common Sense With Money!)

Rebate Money Maker:

This deal is particularly good if you can find a rebate form for Softsoap Ensembles. I found them a few months ago at Albertsons and I've been saving it for a good sale. It is good for $4 back when you purchase both a Softsoap Starter Base and a Disposable Base Refill, offer expires 12/31/09. The rebate will then give you a profit of $4!

If you are actually going to go buy these at Target, and want a rebate form, I have a couple extras. Leave me a comment/email me your mailing address and I will send you one (Please only if you intend on doing this though, I don't have a lot stamps/extra forms!)

Pizza Anyone?

Save up to $15 on a utility bill from Tombstone Pizza through 1/15/2010.
